Deasil has been embedded in media and entertainment since the 1990s. Our principals contributed to the early years of Disney.com, R&D and animation at Napster, and a handful of Universal and Sony subsidiaries. We were headquartered in the heart of the entertainment industry through the early 2000s, when streaming was new and content delivery at scale was an unsolved problem.

The work spans three closely related domains: studios and networks, broadcasters, and recording artists. The platform engineering challenge is the same in all three: deliver high-fidelity content to global audiences at unpredictable scale, with strict rights management and audit demands.

• NBC.com: Deasil shipped NBC.com’s first software framework, powering its content platform and unifying internal resources and development operations. We also built the first web applications implementing real-time synchronization with broadcast events.
• Disney: Massive international data processing for Disney during the early streaming era; later work for Disney Interactive.
• Warner Bros / Harry Potter: Long-term platform work and digital experiences for tentpole properties.
• OWN, KCET, PBS SoCal: Broadcaster platform and content delivery work.
• Music: Pre-YouTube live video streaming, global fan platforms, and digital rights management for U2, Beyoncé, Nine Inch Nails, Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt, and others.
